Surah Annoor Ayah 35
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. His light is like a niche in which there is a lamp, the lamp is crystal, the crystal is like a shining star, lit from ‘the oil of’ a blessed olive tree, ‘located’ neither to the east nor the West, whose oil would almost glow, even without being touched by fire. Light upon light! Allah guides whoever He wills to His light. And Allah sets forth parables for humanity. For Allah has perfect knowledge of all things.

Seeking Knowledge

Iqra! Read! The first word that was said to our Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) by the angel Jibreel when he started receiving revelation of the Qur’aan. Reading the Qur’aan is an important duty on every Muslim that can read. Allah (SWT) has been so generous in His mercy by giving us this book of guidance, a mercy to human kind. Seeking knowledge of our Deen and sharing it with others is also very important.

Dr.Dona’s intention is to help to share the insight she has gained from the study and practice of Islam. She is not a scholar, just a student. She also pray that her words will show the beauty of our Deen and inspire readers to the Qur’aan, the Sunnah and closer to Allah.

Finding a good Qur’aan Translation

Finding a good translation of the Qur’aan is very important. Two that I recommend are Saheeh International and The Clear Qur’aan. They both use easy-to-understand English, making the meaning more accessible to the reader. I suggest you do your own research as well to see which translation works best for you, Dr.Dona.
